Mermaid in Malachite
“Mermaid in Malachite” is a 12x36”, resin sculpture artwork on 1 1/2” cradled wood.
This piece began with malachite in mind, those deep, layered greens that feel alive beneath the surface. Built in epoxy resin with sculpted forms, each raised form holds light differently, creating movement across the surface like water in motion.
As it came together, it shifted. The shapes started to feel fluid…like something living beneath the surface. By the end, it wasn’t just inspired by malachite, it felt like a mermaid’s tail cutting through dark water.
There’s a quiet depth to it. Dark, reflective, and constantly changing depending on the light. It’s not loud, but it pulls you in.
