“She Is…Still Standing” is a 36x36” mixed media and sculpture on 2” cradled wood panel.
This piece continues from the She Is series… rooted in the idea of the tree of life, but moving beyond symbolism into something lived.
The tree is sculpted by hand, built outward in layers to give it weight and presence. The exterior is finished in what feels like dark iron… strong, grounded, and structured.
Inside, the trunk breaks open to reveal rust.
The original plan was to gold leaf the tree… to refine it, to elevate it. But it didn’t feel right. It needed to stay raw. More honest.
The roots extend beyond the surface, wrapping around the edges… holding on, anchoring it in place.
Strength on the outside… something weathered and changing underneath.
Still standing.
